Setting Web Fonts

Microsoft provides ways for you to have your Excel data available on the Web. You do this by saving your worksheet data in a Web-page format. You can specify which fonts you want Excel to use when it creates Web pages from the information in a workbook. You can set the default fonts that Excel uses by following these steps:

  1. Display the Excel Options dialog box. (In Excel 2007 click the Office button and then click Excel Options. In Excel 2010 or a later version, display the File tab of the ribbon and then click Options.)
  2. At the left side of the dialog box click Advanced.
  3. Scroll through the available options until you see the General section. (See Figure 1.)

  4. Click on the Web Options button. Excel displays the Web Options dialog box.
  5. Make sure the Fonts tab is selected. (See Figure 2.)

  6. Using the Proportional Font drop-down list, select the font you want used as a default for your Web pages.
  7. Using the Fixed-width Font drop-down list, select the font you want used when displaying monospace information on your Web pages.
  8. Using the Size controls, specify the respective default sizes for the fonts.
  9. Click on OK to close the Web Options dialog box.
  10. Click on OK to close the Excel Options dialog box.

Tangential question ... is it possible to put an Excel file on the Web so that it can be consulted from VBA in a "local" workbook (e.g. a list of registration codes for add-ins that needs to be validated by the add-in to check if the registration is still valid) ? I've been looking allover on guidance on how to do such a thing (even have been looking into setting up the registration list on my FTP server for accessing it from the add-in), but haven't found any step-by-step instructions yet that will help me do this from scratch ...
